Who Is Responsible for Ophelia's Death

THE CONCRETE RESPONSIBLE FOR OPHELIA'S DEATH Death is inevitable. It is something that human can't control. Sometimes with a blink of an eye, you could be dead, or someone could be dead. It is sad and unpleasant occasion. In one's life, there is various of element that can lead to death. This includes aging, disease, accidents, and suicide. The last one is often because of madness, depression or unmeasurable melancholy. In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare Ophelia is a young noblewoman of Denmark. She is the madly in love with Hamlet, the protagonist character. In the said play she died. The reason for her death still puzzle the people. Some say its neither accident nor intent. Gertrude, the widow of the late King, the mother of Hamlet and current wife of Claudius insist that she witness the death of Ophelia. According to the Queen, Ophelia slipped and fell in while picking flowers on the bank of the moat. She did not save herself and let her own body drown. While drowning she sings: And will he not come again? And will he not come again? No, no, he is dead; Go to thy deathbed; He never will come again. His beard was as white as snow, All flaxen was his poll. He is gone, he is gone, And we cast away moan. God 'a'mercy on his soul! And of all Christian souls, I pray God. God b' wi' you But who is the concrete responsible for Ophelia's death? But what or who causes her madness for her not to save herself? In the first place, did she really drown her own self? The people have a lot of speculations about what actually happens to Ophelia and what causes her insanity. We live in a complicated word. Our environment has a diverse factor to every pain we have and how will be able to deal with them. Heartbreak and constant rejections often result in depression. Or worst comes to worst, one might be lost her/his sanity. The people in Ophelia's life have a big impact in want happened to her or to her death in general. They are the reason why she can't contain her own feeling anymore. That is why she chooses to escape rather than to face her problem. But this may be because she got no one to run to. Others blame her brother Laertes. Because he is not there when Ophelia is so down. He should be there to comfort her and be her strength when we are so weak. He should help her release it all to his shoulder. Sometimes what keeps us sane is the fact that there's someone out there that would stand by our side. While we face the difficulties in life. But it's not his fault that Claudius sends him away from Denmark. He even warns Ophelia about her feelings for Hamlet. Because hamlet has no choice on whom he will marry. In the end, King Claudius will choose who will be the right wife for Hamlet. A wife that will suit for him. While others think that Gertrude, the Queen, is responsible for Ophelia's death. As per explanation for the Queen, she witnesses Ophelia's death but why does why did not try to save her? And when the time that Ophelia's mental breakdown she should be there to comfort her.
