Children trust their parents with the provision of basic needs. They grow knowing that their only responsibility is to be young and be taken care of. However, as one grows, it becomes apparent that parents are also limited in what they can do and this forces one to develop a mentality of self-dependence. While still under the care of oneâ€™s parents, everything is often handed to the child with little to no effort. Conversely, this wears off as one becomes exposed and aware of the reality that surrounds them. The idea of being given things with little to almost no effort gets completely sidelined.
The phrase â€œnothing comes easyâ€ never made sense to me when I was a child. However, as I aged, it has not only became real to me, but I have also learned to live by it every day. Initially, I was used to the idea of being given things without sweating or putting in serious work. It made sense at the time because of my fragile nature and the fact that I could not function as other grownups were.
