Summary and Response Assignment
For this assignment, you will choose a passage to write about from one of the following essays in order to address a relevant theme related to either “seeing vs looking” or “hearing vs listening”.
• John Berger’s “Ways of Seeing”
• Damon Krukowski’s “Ways of Hearing”

In the first part of your paper, summarize the passage of the essay that you have chosen. Your summary should demonstrate that you understand what’s happening in the passage, as well as the essay. Your summary should give the reader a good understanding of either Berger’s or Krukowski’s overarching idea throughout the essay without having to read it. You should also describe relevant details and their roles in the passage. This summary will likely be one-two paragraphs, and must be in your own words.

Summary of the Passage
The passage I choose is chapter three: the nude, from Berger’s Ways of Seeing. It carefully presents the visual codes of the nude by utilizing numerous oil paintings that show and authenticate the author’s argument.
