He provides a simple explanation of what a writing process is and says that it represents “the actual activities that people engage in to produce texts.” However, he continues to note that “tracing the writing process also means tracing the inner thoughts, perceptions, feelings, and motives of the writer(s) as well as tracing exchanges (spoken or written) between people, exchanges in which content and purposes of a text may be imagined and planned.” Therefore, tracing the writing process is not an easy feat and one ought to be aware of any and all techniques that would help in making the process easier. Prior’s article is rich with several methods which help to explain how one can study and even analyze the writing process of an author. Given the task to compare the writing process, one ought to have a plan with all the methods or techniques to be used. Below is an elucidation of my plan as well as an explanation on why I would choose the methods discussed. In my analysis, I would use the intertextual analysis method, I would also elicit writers’ accounts, and finally, I would use observation of writing.
