The Old Man and the Sea is a famous short novel by American author Ernest Hemingway. He wrote this novel in 1951, and it was published in 1952. The Old Man and the Sea is regarded as the major work by Ernest Hemingway. The story revolves around an aging Cuban fisherman named Santiago. He can be found struggling with a giant marlin in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Cuba. He is experienced, hardworking, dedicated, and honest. His neck has gotten wrinkled from the sun, and his hands have the scars of so many fishing battles. However, nothing stops Santiago from moving on and working for his betterment. He has great strength and maintains a positive attitude throughout his life. Hope can always be seen in his cheerful and bright blue-colored eyes. This is what proves that Santiago is a successful fisherman.
By personality, Santiago is confident, optimistic and determined. He does not believe in letting anything rattle him. There are times when he does not catch any fish for a month or so, but he always refuses to be discouraged. He considers him a good fisherman and a nice human being.
One of the best parts is that Santiago has had bad times, but he believes in keeping up the spirit and tries to maintain his integrity every single day. Once he makes his mind to go far away and try his luck in a unique way. He actually wants to catch a large fish, and this is where his skills as a fisherman are judged. For a moment, he fee...
