1 How much of the job of filtering out non-credible sources can technology do right now? For what reasons?
At present, technology can implement strategies such as adjusting browsers, applications, algorithmic filters, and plug-ins. Additionally, the use of trust ratings may be helpful. Artificial intelligence bots can be improved to allow excellent information verification to hunt down fake sources of data. Web companies may hire certified technologists to authenticate sources of news in the future. This should enhance the public’s content validation capabilities (Pew Research Center, 2017).
2 If technology cannot do the entire job, who else is responsible for filtering out non-credible sources, and what do they need to do?
Public support through government and public funding is necessary to ensure the distribution of accurate information. The primary goal is to increase information literacy through proper education. The funds should be directed to education and the public press to allow for the better distribution of knowledge (Pew Research Center, 2017).
