Introduction
It is critical to note that technology has significantly changed virtually all aspects of the current society. Technology has improved how people interact and share information, which is crucial for promoting development. However, it also has negative implications on various issues, such as changing how to interact and play with each other. Besides, although technology has remained fundamental in facilitating engagement with children from different parts of the world, which is essential for promoting learning, these technologies can negatively influence the physical relationships that children have with other members of the family and can also affect their development and quality of life. Moreover, technology may also have a significant effect on children’s social interaction with their family members and their peers. Ideally, unlike with the older generations who would have face-to-face interactions with their friends, young people nowadays rely on technology to build and maintain their social circles. Besides, in some situations, young people may “suffer socially among peers if they are not up to date or well connected” (Moawad & Ebrahem, 2016). Additionally, at the family level, it is also difficult for parents to have social interaction with their children because they spend most of their time interacting with technology-based devices such as playing computer games.
