The United States online market has continued to grow, and buyers expect to receive their goods without thinking about what goes on behind the scene before it gets to them. Many warehouse workers, who are temporary employees, undergo many issues such as low wages, being fired, and their rights were often not considered since they are not unionized (VICE News, 2014). These employees also tend to be immigrants because the employment agencies recruit them since it easier to take advantage of them rather than hiring Black Americans who need the same jobs.
Many corporate giants such as Amazon hire a large number of temporary laborers. This is a type of labor that is hard to outsource, and most companies rely on a more significant number of temp workers in comparison to permanent workers. Staffing agencies have been critical in the rising number of temp workers (VICE News, 2014). These companies act as an intermediary between the employees and the warehouses.
