Understanding the pathways leading to juvenile delinquency to the repetitive commission of criminal acts is important to reduce crime rates. By focusing on certain interventions toward addressing the root cause of these behaviors, children would have a lesser tendency to commit crimes and become a more productive member of society. In a study conducted by Bishop, et al. (2017), the authors found out that the common pathways that lead juvenile delinquents into gang memberships are the antisocial socialization pathway. On the one hand, this pathway is caused by a variety of factors such as family problems, poverty, the presence of dangerous drugs in the community, and even emotional trauma, among others.
