The basic idea of all analysis is to compare your results against some valued position that you are trying to attain. What if the valued position is set too high for you (or anyone) to attain? Or so low that you cannot help but attain it? What is the relationship between values and empirical results in the context of clinical practice evaluation?
When the valued position is set too high, there is greater burden to obtain clear and relevant evidence so that the results are meaningful. The results are necessary to support, modify or reject the conclusion in the effectiveness of an intervention there is focus on rigor in the analysis (Bloom & Fischer & Orme, 2009). The results are expected to be as precise or accurate as possible to make the right conclusion in a highly valued position. However, this also means results may be rejected when there is uncertainty even when the conclusion that would be made is correct. Analyzing the data and interpreting the results are undertaken before communicating the findings.
