Reflection on Yoga
On my journey of self-care mindfulness, I embarked on practicing yoga. Yoga helps me get in tune with my body and my inner self. In essence, I can balance my physical, mental, and spiritual self to achieve a peaceful body and mind. The physical aspect of yoga promotes a healthy physical body, that is increases flexibility, body tone, and muscle strength. On the other hand, the mental technique consists of breathing exercises to discipline the mind. Yoga clears off my mind, manages stress and anxiety levels, keeping me relaxed. Additionally, yoga improves respiration, energy, and vitality. On the spiritual level, yoga has helped me to be mindful of other people’s feeling and to always show acts of kindness.
Yoga involves deep breaths and gentle stretching. Constant repetition of these exercises slows down my breathing pattern and inhibits my mind from wandering. I feel my muscles relax, ligaments stretch, and ultimate body balance. I can take charge of my breathing; this makes me aware of my surroundings, my body, and most importantly, my mind. It enables me to enter a state of deep calm and reflection. As a result, I am present, conscious, and fully engaged in my day to day activities. Yoga generally gives one a sense of wellbeing and self-fulfillment.

Social workers work with individuals in different settings to help them endure, recover and cope with both immediate and severe problems that they face in their lives. Although some situations may be joyous, many seek the help of a social worker to assist them when going through a difficult time. Whether they are taking care of an individual suffering from depression or anxiety attacks. It is their role to ease their patients suffering, which can, in return, lead to physical and emotional depletion. Therefore, self-care is necessary from an ethical and personal perspective. Social workers must adopt ways to deal with how their client’s struggles and how pain affects them emotionally (Dalphon, 2019).
A social worker counsels their patients to tend to their self-care needs and helps them point out the effects of failing to do so while they neglect self-care or pay attention to the signs and sympt...
