Introduction
Working hours should be optimal to create time for sleep, spending time with family, and relaxing. Unorganized and unpredictable work schedules mean working long hours as well as one might be on call abruptly. This kind of work schedule has its consequences and should be discouraged. Companies subjecting their employees to long working hours have reported cases of unproductivity. Additionally, such workers have been seen dozing off in their workplaces.
Problems with Improper Work Schedules
This is because the Chronotypes of these workers are being strained. Chronotypes are biological hormones responsible for sleep. Workers doing night shifts have indicated a low percentage of productivity. Such companies should group workers with the same Chronotypes into one job group, such as night shifts and day shifts (Emily, 2018). Due to the unproductivity of these workers, companies will suffer economic turmoil; hence, fewer revenues and profits will be realized.
The second consequence of unorganized and unpredictable work schedules is family conflict. Most of the workers with families often lack time to spend with their families. This is because they spend much of their time in their workplaces. These workers end up taking their children for daycare. Parents working on night shifts usually leave their younger children with siblings of, let say, ten years. This can be very risky in case of an emergency. However, parenting is essential for growing kids. It molds children into good behaviors when growing. Such children will complain to their parents that their parents never want to spend time with them.
Furthermore, marriages might end up breaking since one of the parents spend almost all of their time in workplaces. Likewise, workers with unorganized or unpredictable working schedules receive fewer salaries compared to workers with regular work schedules. Due to financia...
