When one comes across a good writer, do they often wonder how they got to become so good and how they maintain it? Writing is one of the things that people might feel that is easy and yet they are often mistaken. Starting writing as a student can be challenging because of the initial feeling that it would be easy. However, as students begin to go through the initial stages of writing, they begin to appreciate that it can be involving and interesting at the same time. Whenever students do assignments, they try to be as thorough as they can because of that fear of failing. University of Colorado English School is one such institution where students have to be at their brilliant best whenever they do their assignments. The situations can get even more serious if the marking of the assignments is to be done by the principal. In my final assignment, I was to write about my experience at the university and it was to be marked by the principal who was often known to be thorough and feared and respected for it. Consequently, I had to do my optimum best to ensure that I made not even a single mistake because the principal was known to be strict with his marking and would punish even the slightest mishap. He was often referred to as the master of perfection.
It is in the culture of the University that each student does a final writing paper that can be used to gauge whether they are considered to have passed or not. I would say it is the paper where one puts everything that they have learnt into practice. As a result, the school principal normally takes the initiative to mark some of the assignments by himself because it interests him to know where the students have reached and if the school is delivering according to the mission and vision that they have. The writing on my experience at the university was particularly an important and challenging one because it was broad and touched on the core facilities of the institution. Particularly, it involved my experience with the teachers. There was just this nagging feeling of just focusing on the positives and trying to impress the teachers so that I could get high grades. Even as I sought to do this, I also tried to include some negative experiences with hope that it could be a pointer to the administration that there were areas they could work on to improve the experiences of the students.
Whenever one has attended a function or an important event, it becomes prudent for them to at least put down their experiences in writing. The writing topic I chose was never decided for me by anyone but I felt it was necessary for me to do it so that I could relive the moments I was with the University. I enjoyed my time, that and I felt that it would serve as a lovely reminder that I wanted to relieve even after I had left the institution. In as much as I wanted to write about my experience, it was never to be a freestyle writing: I had to be very academic with my words because I knew that after all, it was an academic paper and the principal would be after the standout pieces of writing.
