What do you think about the depression of Chinese economic environment?

According to New York Times, “China’s economic slowdown worsened in the July-to-September period…China continues to grow at its slowest pace in nearly three decades of modern record-keeping.”

The economic environment in China during the past few years was severe, and it can be observed visually as the economic growth slows and the higher unemployment. There are many reasons that can be accounted for the depression of Chinese economic environment in recent years: President Xi Jinping’s campaign against corruption dampened extravagant spending for years, the weakness in China’s real estate sector, and the deepening impact of the trade war. As a result, consumer confidence has weakened, potential new investment has been limited. More and more merchants and enterprises (especially private) suffer from and struggle with this frustrating economic condition.

It seems difficult and even impossible to run a new profitable business, in fact, many SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) have been closed down in recent years.

Questions: What do you think about the depression of Chinese economic environment? If you were an investor or a merchant who wants to run a new business in China, but with a high risk of investment and the frustrating economic condition, what would you do?
