Changes in the demographic spectrum have triggered debates on the stability of various population elements. The publication Global Diasporas: An Introduction by Robin Cohen is a demonstration that multiple aspects of the population are changing while most people do not notice. Cohen anchors his analysis of the concept of “diaspora.” From the onset, the publication is stemmed from an assertion that demonstration of loyalty to the nation-state by migrants and minorities is fast becoming questionable. The text substantiates the claim by a range of other chapters that deliver insight on how changes have occurred in the demographic space within a short time. While the book delves around multiple factors surrounding “diaspora”, chapter 8 seems to be more interesting and quite detailed in devising the actual elements of change. Liking chapter 8 is simply rooted in the chapter’s analysis of the different elements that have grown to design the existence or non-existence of diaspora in contemporary demographic structures besides the chapter illuminating explanation of the claims in the other chapters.
Chapter 8 is a brief exploration of the global age and its impacts on the diaspora.
