Part 1: Literature Review
On the first day of the UP Board examination, UP’s Ballia district reported a maximum that out of 163 cases, 24 – 17 boys and 7 girls from class X – were reported of using unfair means in the state (TNN, 2017). To correlate this matter, what is “Cheating”. Generally, cheating means is to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.
How exactly is the public affected when a law student cheats? Technically, law students, for starters will have a lower capacity, than that of students who studied the materials by heart, to learn the entirety of the context they need to learn for their board exam. Another is due to law being a program which the lawyer to be the mediator between lies and truths. Each case, each evidence, each alibi, all of these have to be reviewed thoroughly and accurately. To give out an honest and critical report in front of the judge and jury, the hand which either condemns or announces the party innocent, to save a life, to be a true lawyer, one must know by heart, all rules and regulations, to make sure they win their case in a just and right manner, and for one to not make a fool of themselves, or worse, due to lack of knowledge in their field, the party who ARE indeed needed to be jailed are the ones free; therefore, having a wrong prosecution which does not only affect the public locally but may even happen on a national level as seen for the prosecution of officials involved in graft and corruption. Therefore, knowing this, especially to those who study or belong to a field which is a matter of lies and truth, it is vital to know that cheating during the secondary or even their tertiary years would lead to cheating in the professional world in which it would reach a point you would no longer be able to cheat the cases or being the reason why the verdict of the jury and judge are wrong. As a future law student, it is of great importance that I know everything, down to the miniscule details so that I will be able to perform my job, as an attorney, effectively and so that I am able to save a life, just as how my future job description should be.
Part 2: Argument
I am a firm believer of the third theory discussed in viewing plagiarism, which states that “Everything’s a remix. Creativity in every area of life depends upon the ability to build on, and create something new out of, previous ideas.” In which, that even as time passes renders events to be more complex than the previous generation, God forbid they take a turn for the worse, each “slide” or fragment of any event was just based off from an original or previous ideas. By that, take a look at Disney Movies – the classics – that regardless that a remake or a stage play was made, the concept remains the same; however, the casting is different and some parts of the original Disney Movie were changed. Disney Movies themselves are just a rendition of Grimms’ Fairy Tales by The Grimm Brothers.
Another circumstance relatable for plagiarism as a form of remix is Cryptomnesia. What exactly is Cryptomnesia? As defined in the dictionary, occurs when a forgo...
