1 Teratogen
A teratogen is anything that can hinder development of the fetus in a pregnant mother`s womb. It can cause a birth defect, malformation of the embryo, or even terminate the pregnancy. Teratogen can be in form various harmful drugs such as nicotine, cigarettes, alcohol or birth control pills. Exposure to various infectious agents such as chicken pox or German measles can also have teratogenic effects (Train, 2007).
