Time is a significant factor in project management. It is complementary to every component of the project. Therefore, every step that is taken in the project requires its own time. To effectively manage a project and accomplish its purposes, one must organize and manage time well. Time management requires an understanding of an individual's current situations, goal setting, planning, and resource and personnel allocation.
When managing a project, it vital to analyze and understand one's present realities. This involves the identification of one's talents, abilities and expertise, and the available resources. Tracy (2014) suggests that an individual should identify at least ten goals of their project and the actions that need to be taken to achieve them. The project manager should then identify and focus on the things that produce more exceptional results for the project. They must also understand the parts of the project they can handle on their own and the parts that can be delegated. Besides, they can also eliminate low-value tasks by outsourcing them to other people. Outsourcing frees up more time for the project manager to handle the most critical parts of the project. The manager also focuses on the things that can be done to simplify and streamline the project and do fewer things that have the most significant impact. The entire process helps the project manager identify what they need to learn about the project, the resources that are required, and the people whose assistance is necessary for the success of the project.
