All the states in the US have disaster management teams which include state department police, US marine, coast guards, and US army. The main reasons for state governments setting up disaster preparedness programs are to be able to save as many lives as possible. The government needs to provide safety measures to its citizens in case of any disaster caused by natural calamities, terrorists` attacks, and even nuclear plants reactions. All the public buildings are fitted with alarms for alerting the authorities of any emergencies arising from collapsing buildings, terrorists` attacks, and fire (Anand, et al. 2009).
