Introduction
Carusone, Loeb & Lohfeld (2006) defines qualitative research as a method that is used to disclose flow in thoughts and opinions and get deeper into the problem. Methods for collection of data in a research qualitative research do vary in terms of the techniques used, and these techniques consist are either unstructured or semi-structured. Some of the commonly used methods in qualitative research method include observations, individual interviews and focus groups.
Pneumonia Care and the Nursing Home
The research method that was used in this study that was carried to find out whether the residents and families would prefer pneumonia to be treated at home was qualitative research method. This is because the method that was used in getting the data was interview and observation. As a matter of fact a total of 14 in-depth interviews were used in the study and the data that was gathered were analyzed using editing style (Carusone, Loeb & Lohfeld, 2006).
In- Depth Interview Method
The researcher chose an interview method because he or she wanted insightful and detailed information about what people think and their behavior towards a given initiative. For records, it is important to remember that interviews are often being used if the researcher would to explore new issues. For instance, in this particular study, the researcher wanted to find out about the views of the residents and families on the home care treatment for pneumonia (Carusone, Loeb & Lohfeld, 2006).
