My Reflective Essay as a Writer, the Changes in My Attitude to Writing

Essay Instructions:

Reflective Essay

Project must be 800-1000 words
This final paper will help you reflect on yourself as a writer, the changes in your attitude to writing (if any), and the progress you made in ENGL 101 and 102. Reflective analysis helps you to make an evidence-based argument about yourself, a skill that will benefit you not only here at Drexel, but also outside of Drexel. In your personal, academic, and professional life, it will be important to establish and reflect on goals, to periodically examine what you have accomplished, and to ask critical questions about your learning: What did I hope to accomplish in this class/project/ experience? How did I grow as a person, scholar, or professional? What evidence do I have for that growth? How does this growth prepare me for what is next?
Minimal length: 1000 words.
Components of the Reflective Analysis
Your Reflective Analysis should accomplish four tasks:
It should make an argument about your writing development.
It should use artifacts of your own writing as evidence for your argument. Specifically:
2 major projects from 101
2 informal writings from 101
Any other supporting artifacts you would like to use
It should do “meta-analysis” of those artifacts as it makes its argument. “Meta-analysis” is your examination of your own work, your writing-about-your-writing.

It should be directed to a specific audience: Professional employer, friend, teacher, parent or guardian, future child, yourself…you choose. The format should fit the audience.
I will upload 4 essay I wrote. Two essays which title in ENGL 10is the essay I currently wrote, and the other essays which title in ESL 110 is the essay I wrote in the past year.

Personal Statement
For the period I have been in this institution learning a new language has been challenging but it has been an interesting journey. Knowing that I can communicate fluently in English orally and in writing is innately satisfying and a worthy price for the thousands of hours I have put in learning the language.
My attitude towards learning English has also changed. At first, I felt that I was being forced to learn another culture which was hard and irrelevant to my future career prospects. However, looking back, I think it was important that I enrolled in ENGL 110 and ENGL 101 classes because they have had an immeasurable impact on my life. I think it is one of the best things that have ever happened to me. Learning to write in English has helped me to improve my appreciation for the language and its relevance to my life. I used to think that English is a complex language and initially I was studying it just to excel in the courses. However, as time went by, my perception of the language and the courses changed and I came to perceive them as my tickets to a new world of more opportunities. I began to realize that my understanding of the language would help me to be part of English speakers worldwide and I could also communicate with them easily and effectively. I now see it as a new way to break barriers against the people, cultures, and communities I can interact with and a ticket to new social circles, communities, cultures among other things.
My learning has come a long way, and it started with the basics such as proper sentence construction. Sentence construction is an important element in writing. I have learned to write better sentence structures and articulate my ideas coherently. I have come to understand how to identify common grammatical mistakes and how to avoid them. I can now construct various types of sentences easily and package my message in a clear and concise way. This has been important to me because I can now communicate with other people through writing and they can understand my message easily. Sometimes I go through my previous work such as the essays I handed in in my ENGL 110 class, and I cannot help but appreciate how my writing skills have improved. For example, in my ENGL 101 final assignment, I wrote this sentence, ‘We don’t worry about it will pollute the environment, because it is just trees, it is the environment.’ This is an incoherent sentence which is poorly structured and constructed. Though some of the mistakes are laughable now, I could not see them, and I appreciate the help of my instructors, classmates, and friends in helping me improve my writing....
