As I earlier emailed you, the deadline of the shot-by-shot analysis is Monday, November 30th. Please bring a hard copy to class.
You can choose the scene you want to write about from five different movies: Pulp Fiction, The Exorcist, Modern Times, Metropolis, or No Country for Old Men. (You can find the Youtube links to the scenes below.)
Here’s what your shot-by-shot analysis needs to consist of: 
Introduction (description of the scene, what it is about, perhaps a couple of sentences about the scene’s significance/role in the full movie)
The description of the mis-en-scene of the shots (if there is a change of the setting make sure that you describe it).
The description of cinematography, lights, and editing. Please use the terminology you read for and/or we discussed in class.
Analysis of the scene: how do the cinematographic elements and tools help the development of the plot? What is the atmosphere they create? What meanings can you assign to the director’s and photographer’s choice of design and composition?
Conclusion
The required length of the shot-by-shot analysis is 2-3 pages. For this reason, make sure that you choose a short scene. If you feel like you have too much to say about the scene you have chosen, feel free to write only about the first minute or two. Some of the scenes I listed below have many edits, multiple settings, while others take place in one location with one or two edits. If a scene consists of many edits and multiple settings you will most likely need to narrow your focus to make sure that you can include all your observations into this short essay.

The movie No Country for Old Men was produced in the year 2007 under the directors and editors by the names Ethan and Joel. The movie is a neo- western thriller that is from a novel Cormac McCarthy that uses a similar name to that of the movie. Some of the main characters in the movie include Tommy Lee, Javier and Brolin. The storyline of the movie is about a Vietnam vet and a welder from Texas whom greed and chance convey a fate that is neither denied nor wanted. The film can be compared to a cat and mouse that was set in a desert area in the western region of Texas. In the movie, there are also certain themes that the directors have stressed on. These themes include conscience and circumstance. In the cast, Tommy Lee plays the role of the Sherriff of the town whereas on the other hand Josh plays the role of a welder and that of a Vietnam who runs away with a lot of money that is estimated to be around two million dollars. In addition, Kelly and Woody are among the minor characters that also play a very important role in the movie. The movie is basically grounded on money from drugs that one of the main characters bumps into in a field and decides to run away with.
The cinematography of the movie that was done by Rodgers aimed making the whole movie to be more realistic in order to match with the storyline behind the movie. The movies images have been made dark and edgy and sparse in order to show the viewer the real pictures of the desert and the time at which the movie was produced.
