MERS-CoV has been seen to be highly pathogenic and has the potential to evolve and spread is therefore a concern for Public Health. With the world becoming a global village, it can easily spread and cause death if it goes unchecked. It should therefore be a concern for Public Health departments in all countries. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have issued a public health alert and requires that public health care professionals report any patients under investigations for MERS-CoV to the state and local health care departments who should in turn report this to CDC. It is important that these cases are reported to prevent death of the patients and spread. All cases are properly recorded and thorough screening is done to rule out or treat MERS-CoV in any patients suspected to posses the symptoms.
