Memorable Moment
Growing to a different level in life is quite a challenge. It was a Friday morning, in winter, probably December. The day was dangerous and funny. It subjected me to a very hard condition, which could have cost me my life. It all began when I opted to go for a vacation to my grandmother’s house in a very tiny village, whose location was in South Twenty Four Pagans far in the West Bengal. In a new village, activities unfold differently and quickly that they startle us. Sometimes, people fear, as I was when they do not want to be party to any unfolding events.
We spent time in the calm and tranquil weather. It arrested and soothed the feelings. Anyone of my age would always want to have such feelings. Typically, the scenery and the general landscape are gorgeous. The substantial presences of greenery, specifically the field, which reminds me of football, pitches where I spend most of my times during the weekends. This time, my friends who do come and we spend time together were not all present. Only two, Jon and Wazy. We decided to walk to the great fields outside the compound that vomited us into the forth-lying river, a few hundred meters from the yard. In that place, one must be carefully everywhere he goes because of the nearby park. Animals do leave their custody to the outside environment, maybe to feel the difference from their parks. On realization, the game rangers do take them back before any danger occurs. On this day, it was different.
It was sad we did notice the strange string on the ground early. It was until one of my friends, Wazy almost stepped on its tail that it crawled forward, turned, raised the head, and made swollen its glands. The enemy was ready for war. That was a black mamba. We were startled after everybody ran to different directions. I felt nervous but came back to the scene, finding it still in its position. This must have been Satan-sent; I thought but doubted my thoughts too since there were no apples around to make us eat as it is recorded in Genesis. I stood there for a moment contemplating the next move to make it go. I move a few inches behind, picked a stone and raised my hand. It was determined too.
