There are two essays that you need to write in this order, because of the connection between the two essays, I put them in one order. Here are the instructions:
Context: The assigned readings in this module drew your attention to what students have been writing about their experiences. Now, I'd like you to turn your attention to how your community【New York City】 (e.g. country, city, town, college) is writing about their collective experience. Try focusing on the positive since it will be easy to find negative comments. The purpose here is for you to reflect on how your community is writing history through newspapers, blogs, magazines, government announcements, town publications, etc.

The coronavirus pandemic has shockingly struck the world and many people are finding it difficult to adjust to the so-called locked down and the social distancing life. The students are some of the victims who used to have an engaging and socializing life during their daily activities in school. People have been trying to encourage each other through chatting on social media. Professor Herbert, a College Fellow, and professor in UVA’s Corcoran Department of History have come up with a way to remind ourselves in the future by keeping a record of this monstrous pandemic.
Herbart suggests that it will be indeed important for people especially the students on the campus to keep a record of this situation. The first-year students had not really adjusted to the outside world, and have been unfortunate by being stopped by this coronavirus pandemic. He suggests that it's not a must to record every detail at once but, it will be easier if the students record the small details and words which can be easily joined to make a sentence, “. Jot things down, a few words here and there, but then compose them in full sentences” (Herbert, 2020). Hebert explains the importance of doing this as it will enable the future to have a good explanation of this situation.
Katie Newman gives a reflection on the current experience in the current situation which is a good example of the record-keeping being explained by Herbert. Katie is finding it difficult to cope with the current boring, shocking, and unbearable life. Katie has found life to be totally different.
