The article, “Most Americans say colleges should not consider race or ethnicity in admission” by Nikki Graf (2019) reports the latest survey from Pew Research Center that a majority of Americans are of the opinion that race and ethnicity should not be factored in during university and college admissions. The issue of ethnicity and race in college admission sparked a heated debate following a high-profile legal case against Harvard University, which has a potential of U.S. Supreme Court hearing and significantly influence affirmative action in tertiary education in future (Graf, 2019). According to the survey, more whites support the viewpoint that race and ethnicity should not be a consideration in college admission compared to Hispanics, blacks, and Asians.
