For operations of different organizations to run smoothly, following orders issued by people with higher authority is essential. If these orders are not followed, the operations are bound to collapse and this can be detrimental for the organization both in the short term and in the long term. Furthermore, respect to members of higher authority as well as those in the same level is integral to the successful running of organizations. In the military, following orders and having respect embody the values that are upheld. Following orders and showing respect, therefore, allows members of the military to run operations smoothly, not only for their benefit but also for the benefit of those around them, including the community and the society at large. This paper examines the importance of following orders and having respect, with a focus on the army. Following orders and having respect is integral in many organizations, particularly in the military, because it helps in improving efficiency. The success of army operations is greatly dependent on efficiency. The efficiency with which operations are run can determine success or failure in the battlefield. When an army officer follows orders, it increases the efficiency of the unit, thereby increasing the chances of achieving battlefield objectives. During combat, army members must be instructed on when and how to use their weapons. In addition, they have to receive tactics that can help them win battles.
