The Importance of Equanimity
The concept of equanimity always comes up in many conversations. It appears as if this is a delicate concept that is difficult to achieve. While it may sound nice in theory, applying it in real life is something unrealistic that very few people have been able to achieve. The definition of equanimity mirrors its simple meaning: the ability to remain calm even when faced with the most difficult situations. Some people measure equanimity regarding an individual’s natural disposition, attributing a lot of the way they handle their emotions to their emotions. As much as many people were born more sensitive, temperamental, feisty or emotionally expressive when compared to others, some of those tendencies are intensified in our development.
The issues that people have to deal with in life will always play on the above-mentioned characteristics, mapping out their emotional intelligence. The traits are then unraveled during adolescence and early adulthood as individuals test the waters on their own. The relationships and career choices that people decide to foster will always continue to have an influence on their beings. Some people get into adulthood attached to their past experiences, trials and tribulations.
