Rescue mission
Hendersonville Rescue Mission (HRM) provides shelter to the homeless individuals, recovery to the addicted, food to hungry, as well as medical assistance to the poor and homeless. In the last 12 months, 64,518 meals were served and 1,406 people were sheltered by the Mission including 72 children (Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2013). This paper provides an overview of HRM with a view of gaining an understanding of how the Mission restores hopeless lives, how it assists people get back to the feet, how it funds its rescue missions and the challenges it faces.
HRM restores the lives of the hopeless through guidance and counseling as well as life teachings, and in the past 12 months, 3,775 counseling hours were provided and no less than 22 individuals made decisions for Christ (Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2013). Usually, those addicted are provided with guidance and counseling to help in recovering from their addiction. Life teachings are provided to all the targeted individuals with emphasis on instilling Christian ways of life to them. HRM not only provides shelter to individuals, but also extends services such as providing education opportunities to them and securing tem various jobs.
With regard to funding of rescue missions, HRM does not receive any support from federal, state or local government funding and relies mostly on contributions and donations from well-wishers.
