Get a Life, Holden Caulfield Students Name Institutional Affiliation I agree with the premise of the article because the Holden wrote the story many years ago. Times have changed, and most the teenagers do not agree with the ideas of teenage life as put forward by Holden. They believe in different ideologies that go hand in hand with the modern society. As well, most of the critics and reviewers of Holden's story think that it is outdated and consider the acts that were done during that time to be weird. An example is the case of a student wasting their parent hard earned money. Besides, the article talks about the fact that the modern youth have changed a lot in the manner in which they lead their lives. The author says that most youths are fighting for opportunities in Harvard University other than dropping out of school. This is an indication of the many changes that have occurred in the modern society. However, it seems to contradict when the author of the article terms the novel as the staple of today's curriculum. Why would students be told to read a novel that presents different ideologies as compared to their own? They should be focused on novels that act as role models. The novel presents ideas that were relevant to teenagers when it was written. In the modern world, a lot has changed in the manner in which teenagers manage their social life.
