The US-China trade war has seen both nations impose tariffs that are based on restricting imports in both nations. According to Singh, (2019), US President Donald Trump accused China of imbalanced trading practices terming it as theft. Therefore, this article looks at what inspired what has currently escalated to a trade war between these two countries. The import tariffs were placed by Trump’s administration to ensure that they buy more American products than imported goods which are more expensive (Singh, 2019). Information provided in this article shows that $350 billion of Chinese products have been on the American markets compared to $110 billion American products. However, the information provided might not be accurate on the basis that this might be political. However, the article has clearly shown how the trade war escalated and the next steps that the two countries need to take.

The war started due to some specific reasons which were highly political. Trump had promised that if he gets elected as the president of the US, he would reduce the large deficit trade with China. According to (Liu & Woo, 2018), the trade war is a result of both countries owning the two largest economies of the world. However, China's foreign trade grew more rapidly and leading to a trade deficit with China. According to this article, the deficit had risen to around US$348.6 billion in 2018 and US$378 billion in 2019. These figures are almost the same as those of the first editorial (Liu & Woo, 2018). Therefore, the deficit documented signals some truth. However, it should be noted that the interests were a political promise which was meant to bring the US on top. However, the article has included important information that includes some of the agreements between the two countries.
