The article, Captivity Kills Orcas (GW 296-302) by Naomi A. Rose addresses the trainers of orcas. Rose aims at giving his critiques to the trainer and marine theme parks concerning a win-win solution for orcas and aquatic theme parks. She talks of why keeping of blackfish in captivity is a bad idea.
With the audience being the trainer, the reader can be able to identify certain things to prove that. Rose starts by stating clearly the dangers that orcas in captivity cause to their trainers. She premises her work on the risks associated with keeping orcas in captivity. Besides, she offers a win-win solution to trainer’s safety and orcas welfare. The clues show that the author intends to save orcas in captivity and their trainers. Additionally, the answer she offers is designed to help the trainers and orcas.
Rose proposes SeaWorld in the United States where orcas can be rehabilitated and retired. SeaWorld will keep orcas in habitats where they will not be exposed to strangers; hence, increase their lifespan. She also proposes game parks to have caretaker experts to take care of captive orcas. If Rose’s proposal is implemented, orcas will increase their lifespan compared to when they are kept in captivity. Besides, marine parks profits will have more advantages.
