The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the largest professional organization in America which serves the country’s communication community with the mission “make communications professionals smarter, better prepared and more connected through all stages of their career.” Its members comprise more than 30,000 communication professionals from every sector in the country and university and college students. It provides its members with learning and development opportunities and ensures that the principles of ethics are observed as well. PRSA also helps its members to have a wide network connection by bringing together and strengthening professional connections through Districts and other communities. In relating with the public, PRSA ensures that it upholds the principles of ethics.
First, PRSA ensures that there is free flow of information. PRSA knows that providing accurate and truthful information is crucial in serving the public and contributes to better decision making in the society. Free flow of information helps in maintaining good relationships among all the involved sectors and in decision-making in a democratic society. Professional members are expected to act honestly and be accurate when communicating to the clients; correct any erroneous mistakes committed by a member; and not to be prejudiced by gifts when giving out information.
