The most memorable experience of my life was becoming a licensed practical nurse in 2016. Being a licensed practical nurse is an astounding and momentous experience since I get to meet people from different walks of life and work in a setting or environment aiming to help improve or better the lives of others. I provided medical care by helping doctors and registered nurses focus on more specialized areas of patient care.
I work in a skilled facility where I get to work with patients who have mobility issues, or their mobility has changed due to undergoing surgery or having medical conditions. However, this has helped me get to learn how they got into such a situation and how I could help them overcome the thoughts hoarding their minds about that moment. However, to some, it was not that easy since they were involved in road accidents and they could not help themselves bare the fact that they were disabled. Some would sit and think much about how they were just okay sometime back, and now they have to live with the fact that they cannot walk. However, when some were too depressed, I would let them let it all out. This helped them calm down a bit since I offered my shoulder to them to cry on. Moreover, this created a bond between us since most of them found it comfortable to confide in me. Some of the doctors were thrilled with my progress since I was able to help a lot of patients move from their depressing states to a hopeful one. Furthermore, I helped some undergo therapy such as assisting them to try to float on water so that they do not feel useless without their legs. I also helped others move around with crutches since their conditions were not as severe as those who were involved in road accidents.
Conversely, some patients in the facility I worked in had eating conditions or disorders. I work with physical therapists, occupational therapists and dietitians to help them get back to their total health. However, it did not seem that easy since most of them were indeed difficult to convince what they were missing by refusing to eat certain foods. On the other hand, this did not deter me from trying to help them since I saw that they were indeed in need and that they lacked a lot. Moreover, some were becoming too sick to the point that they could not even stand on their feet. I helped consult some of them to discover what made them avoid eating certain foods.
