1 Report an example of a euphemism or dysphemism that you have come across. Discuss when it is and is not appropriate to use such veiled language. Common subjects for which people use euphemisms are death, physical appearance, and commercials. Common subjects for which people use dysphemisms are politics and news reports. 
2 List as many relevant (and maybe irrelevant) factors as you can think of that people often mistake for signs of another person's truthfulness. Perhaps you can tell a story about a notable example. Here is a starter example: the firmness of somebody's handshake as a sign of their truthfulness.

Euphemism helps bring out sensitive information with a light touch. As such persons are able to talks about aspects that are either embarrassing or even unpleasant to them and make it easy for the listeners to ease into the topic of discussion. Death is a sensitive issue that most people will find a difficult topic to discuss to loved ones and in most cases to the children. It is thus one of the topics that receives a lot of euphemism, as people will find it much easier to use euphemism in place of telling their audience that the person they are discussing has actually died. The element of someone dying is associated with an absence that can never be filled (Moore & Parker, 2015). This means that once a person dies they will never be seen, heard from or simply be encountered again. This is an element that is quite sensitive especially where the person being discussed was endeared by those engaged in a discussion. It becomes more important to use euphemism especially where the person that has died was close to a child that has to be involved in the discussion. When breaking the news of death to a child, euphemism becomes the most appropriate as one has to be sensitive to emotions associated with death and the sensitivity of the child.
