I am a middle-aged man of thirty three years from a rural community in South Georgia. I have always wanted to be part of something bigger. This is the reason why I applied for the nursing program with the University of San Francisco (USF). The school mission is to promote learning so that students acquire the knowledge, skills, values and sensitivities that they need to succeed as persons, professionals and architects of a more humane and just world. This especially moved me as I come from a community where everybody minds everyone else’s business. If a neighbor is incapacitated in anyway, they are sure to receive more bakes than they can eat and endless suggestions of home remedies that might work. I intend to be involved in not just my studies but other co-curriculum activities. This is because nursing transcends giving pills and injections to forming feel good relationships with patients to expedite recovery.
