Blyton mainly describes how the children explore through a quaint place. Steinbeck mainly describes the natural phenomena and how they affect people’s lives. The articles, The Enchanted Wood and Grapes of Wrath feature unique writing styles highlighting some similarities and differences in the authors’ writing styles. The former, by Blyton, E. & Newton, J. mainly describes children’s exploration through a quaint place, while Steinbeck focuses on describing natural phenomena and how they affect people’s lives in the latter. Both of the authors tend to write in a descriptive and calm way. (Omission of needless words and use of concrete language)Both authors employ descriptive writing style in developing their articles. In one of the scenes she writes, “Above him, the enormous thick white cloud stretched, with a purple hole in it through……disappeared.” Steinbeck also employs vivid description in developing his article, The Grapes of Wrath. He writes, In “The Grapes Of Wrath”, Steinbeck write “.…a thin hard crust, and as the sky became pale, so the earth became pale, pink in the red.” (There is need for expressing coordinate ideas in similar form and thus requiring a modification of the sentence as indicated) We can see from the sentences that the authors just “plainly” describe the scenes and episodes without adding any emotion to the description.
