Donald
The discussion that is given here is valid because the presence of dual disorder makes the situation worse by the fact that one disorder contributes to the deterioration of the other. For example, according to the University of Utah, (2015), a person with mental disorder may seek self-treatment by abusing drugs only to make the mental disorder worse and hard to treat. Also this condition is made worse by the fact that these patient develop antisocial characters making them hard to treat.
Kiara
He describes the risks associated with dual disorder and the interdependence of mental disorder and substance abuse. His argument holds because it commonly occurs that people who abuse substances normally develop mental problems such as increased cases of anxiety and depression than the average people. On the other hand, people with mental disorder try to find solace on drugs. According to MIFV, (2013), immediate use of alcohol or drugs causes a temporally relief to some symptoms of mental illness such as paranoia or hallucination but when the patient stops taking them the symptoms worsen. This relationship makes the treatment of the condition very challenging to manage.
John
The issues raised here are the complexity of giving the right treatment to a patient suffering from dual disorder. This is valid because in most cases whereby a patient seeks treatment for a certain disorder, he or she may not get the appropriate medication because the specialist consulted may not recognise the other problem or may lack the sufficient training to deal with it.
5-1
Vegletta
The need for a joint treatment of mental and substance abuse disorder is well explained. Tackling the two problems simultaneously reduces the chances of recurrence due to the fact that the two disorders influences the occurrence of the other. The prescriptions work effectively when combined.
