Discussion: Reinaldo Arenas’s “Goodbye Mother”

Essay Instructions:

For this week’s discussion I would really like to have your insight on Reinaldo Arenas’s “Goodbye Mother” (314-325 in the book). The brother who is the witness of the sacrifice and supposedly Arenas himself. I would like for you to explain the ending of the story for me and to specifically explain the repeated use of Ingrid Bergman’s name. This discussion will close Friday at noon.
