You are the manager of an ancillary service department at a large, 500+ bed hospital. Develop a proposal (750-850 words) that is directed toward your staff, in which you address the following:
1. Inform the staff of the two issues (from the topics provided) your organization is facing.
2. Describe the impact of these issues on your department.
3. Describe how improved communication, collaboration, and teamwork can improve conditions in your department.
4. Identify at least two examples from the required or recommended readings of techniques found to foster inclusion and improve communication and collaboration.
5. A minimum of three academic references from credible sources are required for this assignment.

There is a need for restructuring the health sector and put more efforts that will aim at improving the quality of services that are offered in the health sector. Some of the recent changes have seen health care workers taking new roles and responsibilities in hospitals and other health care facilities. Some of the professionals are happy about these new changes and the opportunities that they have created. Others are still unsure about what these changes may have on their professions. Despite all these changes, there are many problems that health care facilities are facing.
Currently, our hospital is facing the following two problems i) Staff shortage and ii) Poor job satisfaction rates that resulting in a turnover. The recent headlines in the articles, interviews, and speeches have been about staff shortage in hospitals making it a different type of shortage that has never been experienced before. The contributing factors for this staff shortage remain the same such a lot of people are having many career choices other than the health ones. The major contributing factors include aging of the professions, general workforce shortages in the support labor and ancillary professionals. However, the continuous changes in the manner in which patients are cared for in a healthcare environment have also contributed to the shortage of health professionals. Besides, the decreased length of hospital stays and the acute care in ambulatory and home settings and also the need for experienced professions is also another cause for the shortage. When viewed from the economic side, this problem may be caused by the supply side than the demand side of the supply/demand equation (Nevidjon & Erickson, 2006). Therefore, this problem is complex not only for this hospital but to the health sector in general which promises to deteriorate in the future.
Impending the staff shortage, poor job satisfaction resulting in a turnover is another big problem that needs to be addressed. Although, the definition of turnover varies, it is the ratio of the number of professionals that have to be replaced in a certain period that is the movement of staff out of the institution.
