Plot
The giant 747 jet lowered its landing gear and initiated the final approach. Thomas looked at the window, unsure of what lies before him. It has been ten long years since he last saw his homeland. Inside his head, the question still lingers, “How will I live in this condition?” It has just been weeks since he got into an incident and ended his career abruptly. Straight from the hospital and not yet recovered, he is now a mere 9 hours away by plane from the country that he stayed and loved for a long time. He started talking to himself, “It seems as if the sky is also showing what your days ahead will be, Thomas”. He released a deep breath. After clearing the immigration, still, in a wheelchair, dark cloudy skies were in the horizon. With a deep breath, he told himself that, “The sky seems to show exactly how you feel Thomas, dark, melancholic and uncertain”. He released a deep breath as the porter pushed him towards his waiting family. The travel was smooth and more likely favored him. He finally reached his journey and after many years of being absent in the family, he now stepped at the entrance of their abode once again.
His sister asked him what food he liked to eat and immediately brought him hot food. It was already past dinner-time, and even he too felt his stomach ached for hot decent food. His sister brought him food and it tasted delicious. It was his first decent meal since the incident. Still unable to sit, he immediately went to the nearest place that his body was looking for, the warm cozy bed. His fatigue, and the effects of the medicine placed his weak body into a deep slumber. “Uncle, we are going to school now, get well and see you in the afternoon!” his nieces passed by his room the next morning. “Yeah, take care and study hard”, Thomas answered still dazed from waking up. This scene made him recall his past.
“You follow what I’ve instructed you to do. I am the boss!” his superior shouted at the top of his voice. “Yes you may be the boss but what you want is illegal and unsafe. People will get hurt and this is not good!” Thomas maintained his tough stand and disobeyed the orders. ”I don’t care about the people, I want to show my friends that my plan will succeed!” the boss shouted and left the office slamming the door behind him. After a few minutes, he came back and handed Thomas the tea.
“Let us forget the argument, it was nothing”. His boss smiled, as if nothing happened.
“Thanks!” Thomas smiled back, thinking that the argument was already settled, he then drank his tea. That was the last thing Thomas remembered and darkness engulfed him.
