This is a personal journal that shows the daily life of a Counselor in training. It is diverse in operations and professionalism may not feature in all the characteristics described here. It is from the date 15th of February 2016 for five days.
Day 1 15th February 2016
It’s a Monday, and I have to continue with the students from the Friday leftovers. Some students have problems understanding their computer classes and are coming for advice. The diverse problems seem to be taking a lot of time and the plans for the day. The trainees are becoming extra troublesome as they want to move on with all stones turned. Planning for another lesson with a different group of trainees
Day 2 16th February 2016
The previous day was an annoying one. The guidance to students who had problems had been completed. There are people however who have some serious issues with the new development of the curriculum is a matter to be dealt with. This takes longer because the trainees are becoming unstable emotionally due to uncovered assignments.
Day 3 17th February 2016
Wednesdays are the peak of working days for the week. One figures how little has been done on Monday and how much is to be achieved by Friday. One exercises in full strength to finish a lot of things for the week with the timetable getting adjusted. An increase in duties or a removal of some from the calendar is a choice worth making.
I have to ensure that the trainees in all the years are in line with my timetable and schedule irrespective of what they are capable of. The learning times are utilized fully and compensated for. Boredom knocks by midday due to the extra energy used from the morning. A focus on the results encourages me to go on in the afternoon hours as students grow weary. It must be achieved at a slower pace as the week draws towards a close.
Day 4 18th February 2016
Only a day before the weekend and people are beginning to withdraw from what they could probably achieve for the rest of the week. The laxity nature is worn, and none cares.
I also want to have a rest from the previous day’s timetable, and this encourages me to work lesser. The results are a low turnout in both attendance and delivery of instructions to the trainees. They are in the same condition of smelling the weekend from afar and are not complaining to ...
