Technological and natural hazards are agents that could result in possible harm to humans and the environment. The extent of the damage varies from one peril to the other. The differences between both hazards can be classified in terms of their causes.
Natural causes occur as a result of the interaction between the human-made environment and a natural process (Montz, Tobin & Hagelman, 2017). Therefore, this makes them the primary concerns for disaster managers. An example is the devastating impact of a catastrophic earthquake. Technological hazards occur as a result of the disruption of the natural environment through human-made activities. An example is a nuclear radiation or industrial pollution. It could also result from malfunction or errors in controlling a particular technology.
