College Personal Statement
I have constantly felt that I am an engineer at heart. Growing up, I would often take mechanical things a part, attempting to discover how they worked and how they were constructed. I was always trying to satisfy my inquisitiveness and interest of the physical world around me. I strongly believe that engineering is a very empowering and exciting field that would enable me to change the world positively and make a difference to it.
My father was an engineer and I was really fascinated at how he fixed malfunctioning machines at home, for example when he fixed my remote-controlled car that had broken down. It is to a large extent for this reason that I am aspiring to also become a successful, professional and qualified engineer in the future. He is an open-minded individual and has always supported me in everything that I want to do, and he is fully supporting me in my quest to become an engineer just like him. In continuously changing environments that range from vehicle manufacturing to space travel to construction of buildings and roadways, the engineer’s role is of great importance (Male & Bennett, 2015). I strongly wish to take part in these fascinating industries and to help develop handy solutions to the challenges faced by individuals, business organizations, and even communities.
Engineers in my view belong to one of the world’s greatest occupations, and are responsible for nearly all of mankind’s biggest technological accomplishments. In essence, engineers have helped in shaping this world and for many years they have been instrumental in putting up structures and created things which have served communities. The work of engineers is evident around us daily and they continue to have a positive impact not just on the lives of people, but also on the environment (Male & Bennett, 2015).
