1 Why do religions persist and grow in this era, despite that fact that the civilizations that they are associated with either collapse or diminish?
Different reasons are contributing to the spread of religion in this era. Civilizations are intended to improve the lives of people, and they are not intended to do away with the existing structures of the society such as religion. As identified in the chapter, the collapse of classical empires contributed to the spread of world religions. Besides, the political decline made the people turn to religion. The traditional religions that existed were regional abut after the collapse of some of the empires; the people were able to mix and also move from one place to another. Similarly, in the modern civilizations, the movement of people has contributed to the spread of religions.
In our modern day world, people move from one place to another to look for employment or education. As they move, they can meet with new friends and interact. There are different aspects that people can acquire from the people that they interact with such as language, culture, and religion. There are also different forms that were used in the 11th century, and they are used in the civilized world to spread religion. Such ways include crusades.
