Lately, much attention has been directed towards Yoga because of its immense benefits, both physically and mentally. Yoga is an ancient Indian philosophy, which was primarily meant to unite all the facets of a human being including the mind, soul, and body (Woodyard, 2011). Yoga is a form of meditation (Bussing, Michalsen, Khalsa, Telles, & Sherman, 2012) that transcends the ordinary focus on the mind to integrate body movements. I have been meditating before as a solution to my anxiety about what the future holds considering the unfulfilling state of present circumstances. The level of anxiety had gotten out of hand to an extent that it had culminated to fear. This negativity was plaguing my life for the worse and usually, internal negative energy shifts to the external environment and affects the people surrounding such an individual. Yoga is a cost-effective (I have to state this considering the scope of problems it solves) approach that gears to improve every aspect of an individual, eliminating the negatives in their lives and replacing them with a better life.
The past few weeks while practicing yoga have been quite beneficial as I have reveled in the advantages of this activity. First and foremost, I have recognized a significant shift in my usual thinking pattern. Presently, I relate to a very great extent with Seneca’s assertion that “we suffer more in imagination than in reality” (Singh, 2018). Yoga has taught me that my most predominant thoughts will determine my level of existence. The shift to more positive thoughts has been a game-changing experience for me because it has lowered my anxiety significantly (Bussing et al., 2012). Besides, the muscular pains that have been reeling my back are fading gradually. Before the start of the practice, I had immense pain in my back and I was oblivious of the exact course. ...
