According to the notice from the speaker of the Florida House, it is evident that he gave a stern warning to the school superintendents to ensure all students that have been missing should be found and re-enrolled (Postal, 2021). Failure of which funding and budget cuts would be effected as the Florida state would only pay for acknowledged students in the public Florida school district and not ghost or missing students. This comes in light of the degrading rate of enrolment and absence of the expected students to the school – which amounts to nearly 90,000 students. School superintendents should expect repercussions such as lack of funding or reduced funding, which amounts to significant budget reductions and related implications. As a result, the school superintendents should increase enrolment to secure funding.
Such a stern warning comes in light of the recent pandemic, which saw the state's projection and budgeted plan expect a good number of students and attendance. However, or rather, unfortunately, this did not amount to the expected headcount. The number of students that did not show up affects the expected outcome and projected enrolment. As a result, Sprouse, the Florida House speaker, and the other lawmakers were concerned that the students were not getting the education they deserved (Postal, 2021).
