Writing a Spoof

For this assignment you will be writing a spoof about an event that happened in your life. A spoof is a piece of writing that mimics the topic from another piece of writing and makes it funny. Most people know this as a parody or spin off. Taking the main idea from a TV show or movie and using that to make fun of the original piece or other pieces. In this assignment you will be using the phrase "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in..." It is up to you to finish that sentence. There are three steps to follow.1. First you must choose a starting point for your spoof. Try to think of a location or situation where you went through a learning point. Do some brainstorming if you are having a tough time coming up with ideas. You can also look up spoofs or parodies to give you some ideas.
2. Now that you have decided on a location or situation, try to think of different things that might happen. Brainstorm using the idea of 'what if, what if this happened or that. Come up with five different events to give yourself a good base to work from. If you are stuck and cannot come up with different events choose a different situation.
3. Once you have finished with your brainstorming think of the learning or lesson that was learned from that event. Choose the lesson you learned from the most and start writing your spoof. Also be sure to include an introduction and conclusion.Length: 250 - 400 words.

Limitless Spoof
All I really need to know I learned in Limitless, a science fiction movie. The paranoia-fuelled action thriller is about a failed writer, Bradley Cooper. His life is changed when he finds a smart drug which enhances his brain power and improves his abilities. He then becomes an improved and ideal version of himself. However, his powers also lead to new foes who threaten his life in the provocative and dark comic film. It encapsulates one of the significant constraints we face in this millennial age. The movie highlights episodes of the writer’s experiences that are wittingly unorthodox but funny as well. Therefore, this paper will capture these moments within the artwork.
