1 How does the architecture and iconography of Caesars Palace compare to that of the classical imagery in Washington?
One of the most unmistakable similarities of Caesar’s Palace and some of the Washington DC iconic buildings such as Capitol Hill is their classical architecture. Capitol Hill building was meant to resemble the Roman Pantheon and with few design recommendations from president Thomas Jefferson, it is what it is today. On the other hand, Caesar’s Palace is themed in ancient Roman cities with plethora of classical statues and architecture. The pilasters and arched doorways are similar to the Caesar’s Palace which add the aesthetic value of the building and act as support for the horizontal beams.
Conversely, the statues in Caesar’s Palace and Washington differ on what and or who they represent. The statues which are at Caesar’s Palace are directly or indirectly related to Roman culture. They are typically statues of historical figures of the classical period and quite a number are naked like Apollo. Most of the statues in the Caesar’s Palace show a lot of skin and muscles especially the masculine characters and for the women they are fairly covered though some are also naked. On the other hand, most Washington statues celebrate iconic people in American history. The statues are also very covered and fairly decent compared to those at Caesar’s Palace.
