Individual and organizational values
Values are defined as the traits which determine an individual’s priorities and the deeply rooted driving forces. They determine the extent to which individuals relate to each other and are acquired either by birth or during the different development stages of growth of the individuals. Individual values differ considerably because people have different backgrounds and are brought up in different environments (Starbucks.com, 2010).
An organization consists of a workforce that is diverse and characterized by many individual differences and therefore it has to establish a lean, mean set of values which should be diverse enough to accommodate the individual differences in the working place while still maintaining its track towards achieving its goals.
